Global Trade Base History

HistoryGlobal Trade Base was established in 2001 as a sole proprietorship company. The company focus was on all areas of the international trade cycle including buyers, suppliers, products, shipping, freight forwarding, financing, legal consultation and trade leads. The initial company strategy was as a consolidation point where customers could come and complete the facets within the trade cycle.

We extended our business to include trade transactions and our own line of brand-owned merchandise in 2002. During this timeframe we also made some strong strategic alliances and acquisitions.

2003 was a year of growth and expansion. Global Trade Base had to make some changes to meet the growth and customer demand. We changed our company structure to a Texas based class ‘C’ corporation, expanded our facilities, and increased our staff to a position of strength.

2004 saw the migration to continual export commodity transactions and fulfilling the requests of international buyers.

2005 brought the increased demands of specialty retail products in new growth markets and our business model expanded to fulfill this trend.

2006 saw U.S. exports increase and the demand for U.S food products grew commensurately.

2007 brought a weakened U.S. dollar while demands still increased abroad. The demand for our products has increased more than any prior year of business.

2008 recognized a domestic economical crisis. Yet, in that year, U.S. exports grew more than in the history of our country. GTB realized unmatched success during 2008.

2009 has been difficult for many domestic food producers. Their sales in the U.S. have suffered. This has been a great opportunity for more to penetrate international markets. GTB has adjusted some of the programs to accomodate those companies impacted.
